The Rundown: Booster Gold and Blue Beetle have a very public run in with deadly enemies.
Booster Gold live streams his latest operation on social media. Meanwhile, Ted Kord pays his respects to a lost loved one. After being contacted by Skeets, Ted assists Booster in his attempt to rescue a group of superheroes mission. Later, an awkward conversation with his peers leads to Blue Beetle to formulate a plan.
The Story: In this chapter, Dan Jurgens poses the question, “How does a superhero earn a living?” Booster is neither wealthy nor aligned with the Justice League. Although his method of revenue generation is unorthodox, it is extremely practical and fitting for the current times. Its nice to see the issue addressed. Especially as it brings to the forefront the classism involved in superhero work. I really like the dynamics between Booster Gold and Blue Beetle. They have a fun and interesting relationship. And they play well off each other during team action. I can’t wait to see more of their adventures.
The Art: Ryan Sook uses detailed drawings and an abundance of color to capture the tone of the story. The artwork in this issue is as vibrant as the main characters. And the action scenes are well done and exciting. I was completed engaged throughout the tale.
