Black Panther continues to shatter records and myths about the viability of African/ African-American led films overseas as it dominates its fourth straight weekend as number one at the box office.
According to Box Office Mojo, Black Panther is sitting at $562,015,601 million dollars domestically this weekend with $41,136,000 million. The film opened this weekend in China ($66.5 million) and has brought in $516,600,000 taking the films total box office gross to $1,078,615,601 total box office.
One of the latest records that the film has broken is pretty significant. Black Panther is now the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to stay at number 1 at the box office in its fourth week of release. The film is now the second highest grossing superhero release of all time and is now the seventh largest domestic release of all-time.
A sequel was already announced by Kevin Feige, but the $1 billion taken in by Black Panther guarantees more to come from the world of Wakanda.
