The Rundown: Cora learns more about the circumstances of her pregnancy as she remembers the events that led to her temptation.

Cora waits for her son to return, but the angel who entered her home tells her they have time to talk as she tells him of her life with her strict mother and the need for religion that drew her out of her house and into the arms of the local church. As she begins to find spiritual peace, she also begins to hear the voice of God. A voice that everyone, including her pastor, believes she is making up.

When her mother refuses to let her leave, Cora finds herself in the presence of an angel. An angel that will change her life forever. As the angel listens to her story, he tells her what kind of angel visited her and what its visit means for the rest of the world if she doesn’t kill her son.

The Story: Doyle crafts a dark, moody and engaging story in this issue. There is a lot of world building and lore presented throughout the issue and I like seeing the circumstances laid out in such an interesting and tragic way for Cora. It makes me appreciate her personal struggle more as she is forced to deal with the reality of her circumstances.

The Art: Estherren creates beautifully detailed and stylish art throughout the issue and I love the visual tone of the imagery. It perfectly captures the dark tone of the story.
