As the Batman solo film continues to take shape under the direction of Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes), there is news that the original script written by Geoff Johns and Ben Affleck is being rewritten.

The original screenplay, which the studio recently expressed confidence in, was rewritten by Chris Terrio and now Slash Film is reporting that one of Matt Reeves’ first act as director and executive producer of the film is to take the script back to page one. An act that was recently reported regarding The Flash solo film, while that production searches for a director. According to the site:

According to sources close to the production, the screenplay for The Batman is being rewritten from the ground up, so it’s entirely possible that everything we’ve heard about the film’s story will no longer be in play.

Recently, when he was still attached as director, Batman star Ben Affleck released test footage showing the villain Deathstroke played by Joe Manganiello. No word yet on whether the character will remain and in what capacity he will feature in the new script.

This is a developing story.
