The Rundown: The hunt for the Starbrand will take an unexpected turn.

The Avengers continue the fight to find the new Starbrand as Natasha becomes the War Widow to take down a group of prisoners trying to raid the Hellcharger. With Robbie healing and Blade getting worse, an armored Widow finds herself face to face with another problem; Silver Surfer.

The heralds of Galactus are out in force to take down Earth’s mightiest heroes as they converge on the location of the new Starbrand. With the team split to stop them, Widow tries to reason with Surfer, but his determination to kill Starbrand will force Blade and Boy-Thing to merge into something weird, new and powerful.

At the same time, the Starbrand emerges again and this time the one tasked with destroying it is Gladiator and he does not relish the task when he discovers what he has to do.

The Story: Jason Aaron does a great job of moving this story forward and the changes made to the characters adds some interesting and fun elements to the story itself. I like the pace of the story and how the events unfold. The dialogue is great and the fights are epic and visceral, but the ending was what really got my attention. I wasn’t expecting it and was not only pleasantly surprised by it, but it opens the door for so many new possibilities as far as story. Can’t wait to see what comes next.

The Art: McGuinness and Medina deliver some stunningly impressive visuals in this issue. The fights and action feel big and broad because of the deep space setting and the final page is brilliantly designed.
