For fans waiting for the next season of American Horror Story, they were treated to some new information coming out of San Diego about the next season.

The next season of American Horror Story will be titled: Cult.

Co-creator Ryan Murphy made the announcement during an AHS event in San Diego. The next season is said to be inspired by the events of the 2016 Presidential election and a new site from FX has a new video announcement for the season as well as additional videos that will be unlocked over the next few weeks.

The viral marketing campaign is also in gear when you sign up at the site, you start to receive cryptic messages from the AHS account on Facebook Messenger that are designed to keep fans engaged in the lead up to the new season.

The clown motif in the trailer and subsequent press information would seem to confirm the rumors that Twisty the Clown from the Freak Show season of the series will be making some kind of return to the series.

The cast of American Horror Story: Cult will be a mix of veterans and newcomers as Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Frances Conroy will be returning to the series. They will be joined by Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, Billy Eichner, Allison Pill, Colton Haynes and recently announced Girls creator Lena Dunham.

American Horror Story: Cult will air on FX starting September 5, 2017.
