According to a TVLine interview with the producers of the series, they are prepared for both scenarios.

Showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurisa Tanchareon said that they are ready in case the series doesn;t get picked up for season 6 on ABC. “Yeah, we’re ready for if this is the end. We’re definitely going to make it rewarding either way.”  Whedon said, “We can certainly pivot and there are certain things that we’re putting in that at the last minute could be adjusted, but we know at the end we’re not moving off that mark. We’re going to do what we were planning to do, and I think that it’ll be thrilling either way.”

The pair is currently writing the episode and said that they are ready to continue past season 5 or end the series in a thrilling way. Whedon did take time to talk about the shows upcoming 100th episode stating;

“I think that nothing will be the same after [Episode 100], so that I guess is the definition of a game changer.”
