The Rundown: A powerful villain escapes and is on the hunt for Rogue and Gambit.

Dazzler has taken control of the former Graymalkin prison along with some government help, but they find themselves unable to access the trapped sub-level labs. Unfortunately, the last two guards down there will find themselves dealing with the escaped Sarah Gaunt who has decided to begin her mission of revenge by taking a group of young mutants who have been experimented on as her own team.

At the same time, Rogue and Gambit return to New Orleans after the removal of the eye and decide to take some time to themselves. Wolverine and the others are contacted by Sarah who tells them that Rogue is her target and the X-Men move to protect their friends while Logan moves to confront Gaunt one on one.

The Story: Simone creates fantastic tension throughout the story. The buildup to Sarah’s escape, the moments between Gambit and Rogue in the aftermath of his exorcism and the confrontation between Logan and Sarah are all examples of Simone’s skill at raising tension and suspense and one of several reasons why I continue to be engrossed by this series. The story has a great balance of emotional moments and blistering action and I cannot wait to see what happens next after that tense and interesting cliffhanger ending.

The Art: Frigeri delivers stunning visuals throughout the issue. I love the art style and character designs. Frigeri brilliantly crafts a villain that is visually imposing and scary both in the shadows and the light.
