The Rundown: Secrets are revealed as a deadly game is about to be played.

Dax and Worf have found Miles alive on the holodeck, but they have also discovered that the crew of the Valera have been taken replaced with members of the Maquis and a familiar foe of Dax’s looking for both revenge and a powerful weapon. A weapon that reveals itself to be a sentient entity wanting to play a deadly game with its captives.
Sisko and Kira return from the wormhole before Odo and his team are ambushed on the damaged ship and taken captive. As Dax and Worf find themselves playing out a murder mystery on the holodeck, the Defiant finds itself facing down Maquis ships determined to keep them from the station.
The Story: Segura crafts a thrilling and entertaining story in this issue. I like that the story ties into someone from Dax’s past and there are some interesting things being explored in the story. That being said, I think there is too much going on in this issue to satisfactorily bring it all together in the conclusion. I worry that so many different storylines are going to be wrapped up hastily and one of the things that bothered me the most was Odo being captured and how it was so implausible. It will be interesting to see if this story can stick the landing.
The Art: Rosenlund creates some great visual moments throughout the issue. I love the character designs, especially the avatar of the weapon.
