The Rundown: A group of kids in a hidden community discover the dark secret at the heart of their world.

A group of individuals decide to take a piece of land and create a closed community on it. A community born of violence, but hidden from society. There they raise five children who are told that they are special and trained to one day leave the society and save the world. On the eve of their final test, the kids gather to discuss what they are going to do and one of them, Phee has a heart to heart with her very forgiving father.
The next day, they begin their final test and the end of it involves taking a fruit that gives them all hallucinations. When Phee wakes up, she notices something strange about the parents and that some of her friends are missing. What she doesn’t know is that the purpose the kids have been raised to believe is a lie and something more sinister awaits them.
The Story: Kelly and Lanzing craft a dark, intriguing and engaging mystery in this first issue. The duo craft an interesting world in this first issue with some interesting characters and a premise that connected with me from the beginning. There are secrets throughout the story and I cannot wait to dive into them and see where they take me next.
The Art: Vaughn delivers stylish, beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue. I love the visual style of the issue and how it pushes the medium throughout the issue.
