The Rundown: A fragile peace is on the verge of being destroyed.

Cardinal Stryker is paying a visit to a church in New York that is run by Bishop Kurt Wagner. He has been sent by the church to conduct a mission to hunt down and destroy the vampires within the city, specifically the mutant vampires. At the same time, a group of young people stumble upon a potential vampire nest and are attacked by the creatures within it.
One of the kids is saved by Gambit and his group of vampire mutants who discover that the young woman is a mutant, but she is saved by Scott Summers who has a wrought history with Gambit and the others. That night, Kurt is visited by Ororo who tries to tempt him to join her as they discuss the fragile peace that is slowly being torn apart.
The Story: Hickman crafts an intriguing, engaging story in this issue. I really enjoyed the twists in the characterizations and relationships and what they mean for the story going forward. I love that there is an underlying mystery waiting to be revealed within the story as well and I really enjoyed the dark tone and conflict between the characters. There is some great foreshadowing throughout this issue and I look forward to seeing how this series develops.
The Art: Dell Fonte creates some beautifully detailed and visually exciting imagery throughout the issue. I love the character designs and the action was thrilling to see.
