Dragon Con, the largest pop culture convention, includes one of the largest blood drives in the U.S. with thousands giving blood over the Labor Day Weekend in Atlanta. Every year, Dragon Con donors make a significant impact on a critically low blood supply due to summer blood shortages.

Dragon Con attendees often wait in line for hours to give blood over the five-day event, and it has become a tradition for many. This year marks the 24th annual LifeSouth blood drive at the convention.

LifeSouth provides blood to hospitals in the Atlanta area and more than 200 hospitals and emergency service organizations across Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee. Every donation helps ensure patients have the blood they need when they need it most.

All blood types are needed. Now is a great time to visit a LifeSouth bloodmobile or donor center. To find a donor center near you visit lifesouth.org or call 888-795-2707. Donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with parental permission, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. A photo I.D. is required.

LifeSouth is a non-profit community blood bank serving more than 200 hospitals and emergency service providers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee.
