The Rundown: Bruce’s friends fight to save him before the darkness of his mind overtakes him.

Alfred meets with his daughter to discuss his plans to stay in Gotham indefinitely. A move that will give her time to tell her father the truth about who he was to her. At the same time, some of Batman’s allies pull back as others move closer to try to help the wayward vigilante who is diving into conspiracy theories involving everyone around him.

The Robins are continuing to garner positive press and Jason decides to continue his hunt for Batman who is not making it hard to find. As the vigilante practically surrenders to the Robin, Tim arrives to help and the two are attacked by a creature who takes Batman’s form in order to both kill and psychologically torture Bruce.

The Story: Snyder continues to take this story and these characters to some dark and interesting places in this issue. I love the symbolism throughout the story, the tone of every confrontation and conversation as well as the engaging mystery at the heart of the story and its connection to Bruce. This story takes both the character and the reader on a dark, twisting ride and I am here for every moment of it.

The Art: Dragotta creates some beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue. Everything from the quiet character moments to the final fight at the end of the issue perfectly captures tone, mood and emotion.
