The Rundown: Superman and Lois seek answers before Clark goes hunting for the heart of Apokalips.

Superman and the other heroes meet with the Time Trapper to learn about the heart of Apokalips. Superman needs more information so he heads to the fortress to confront the AI of his father to learn about what Krypton knew about Darkseid. He then pays a visit to Lexcorp to enlist Mercy’s help in creating a way to save the people of Earth using Brainiac technology.

Returning home, Superman talks to Lois and enlists her help before departing for his mission. As she and the others prepare to leave, Lois makes a detour to the fortress to see if she can find any information and finds herself in the presence of an AI of Lara who is prepared to give her just that before a familiar face arrives and a battle ensues that gives Lois a powerful gift.

The Story: Williamson crafts a thoughtful, entertaining story in this issue. Not only did I enjoy how deeply personal this story was for Clark, but I also really loved the dynamic between him and Lois. The relationship between Clark and Lois anchors a lot of the bigger story elements and I loved seeing Lois take the initiative on her own to visit the fortress. I also really enjoyed the reveal towards the end of the issue and what it means for the story going forward.

The Art: Barrows and Ferreira create some beautiful art throughout the issue. I love the character designs and the hero moments for the characters.
