The Rundown: Aida touches a shard of truth and has to make a dangerous decision.
Aida has been brought to see the Shard, a device that will unlock the power within her. After learning about the shard and its power, she runs from the temple and finds herself in the woods shaken by what she saw within.
Away from the grounds and alone, she is confronted by the mysterious group that tried to intercept her before. One of them tries to calm her down and tells her that she is being lied to about everything. When her friend Daniel arrives, he tries to get her to come back, but Aida refuses and a rescue from the Guardian has tragic results.
The Story: Marquez delivers a great cliffhanger ending to this issue. There has been great buildup of conflict with Aida and the people keeping her and this issue has a great moment of revelation for her that feeds into that conflict and tension. I like the mystery unfolding throughout this series and how you don’t know who to trust. I look forward to seeing what Aida discovers on her journey and what it means for the story going forward.
The Art: Marquez delivers visually stunning art throughout the issue. I love the visual style of the series and the beauty of the action scenes.
