The Rundown: The kids converge in New York and face their first threat together.

Gaia is using the last of her mental strength to reach out to the kids who have inherited the elemental rings. As Kwame gets off a plane in New York, he meets Gi and the pair are immediately arrested by mysterious mercenaries. At the same time, Linka decides to abandon her father’s limo and take to the streets just as Wheeler arrives at the same protest and accidentally causes a ruckus that leads to a fight.

When Plunder learns that the Planeteers are in New York, he sends his forces to bring them in and take their rings. As they fight each other, Ma Ti steps in to show them how they are connected. A connection they will need when Plunder’s forces attack and they are forced to call on the power of Captain Planet.

The Story: Pepose crafts a thrilling and engaging follow up in this issue. I like that there is internal and external tension among these characters and that they seem fully realized as people beyond their powers. I like the buildup of tension as the characters converge in New York and how their actions lead to their discovery. I like how events unfolded to finally reveal Captain Planet and Pepose leaves the story on a cliffhanger that makes me excited to see what character does in the next issue.

The Art: Casallos delivers some impressive art throughout the issue. The visuals are thrilling and beautifully capture the tone and mood of the story.
