The highly anticipated Justice League film from DC Comics and Warner Brothers is currently in post-production set for its November 2017 release. Unfortunately, a personal tragedy has caused Director/Producer Zack Snyder and his wife to leave the production as reshoots are set to begin.

Zack Snyder and wife Deborah

According to the Hollywood Reporter and other resources, Zack and Deborah Snyder have left the production of the Justice League feature film due to the suicide of their 20-year-old daughter in March. Both Zack and Deborah Snyder, also a producer, have stepped back from the production in order to heal as a family.

In an interview, the couple spoke of the tragedy, “In my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work, to just bury myself and see if that was way through it,” says an emotional Snyder in an interview Monday in his office on the Warner Bros. lot, with Deborah sitting by his side. “The demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all-consuming. And in the last two months, I’ve come to the realization … I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me. They are all having a hard time. I’m having a hard time.”

The studio fully supports the director during this time and contemplated moving back the production until Snyder returned. After Snyder made his decision to leave, he and the studio brought in Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon to write additional scenes and handle reshoots and additional filming that Snyder wanted to add to the production. With this in mind, the film is still slated to meet its release date of November 17, 2017.

Justice-League

Our hearts go out to Zack and Deborah Snyder at this time and look forward to experiencing his vision when Justice League arrives in theaters later this year.
