The complicated politics of the planet and a potential coup against its ruler draws the attention of Robin and his new ally Amethyst and the princess has something to prove to those who underestimate her. Elsewhere, Jinny Hex is trying to figure out where she is and how she’s going to get her truck working. When Teen Lantern’s construct starts to become an issue, Jinny is prepared to take extreme action to remove it until Wonder Girl intervenes.

We learn more about Cassie’s complicated relationship with her grandfather Zeus in this issue as he tries to impart a gift to her, but she is suspicious. Her interlude shows some growth from her as a character as she makes her decision at the same time showing how she can take down someone like Despero by herself. It adds another dimension to Cassie that hasn’t been explored that often.

When the team finally meets up and introductions are made, the big bad of the issue is revealed.

This is a fun issue that continues to introduce the reader to these characters and the unique situation they find themselves in. Bendis does a great job with the Wonder Girl interlude and the complicated relationship between Casssie and Zeus. With the exception of the interlude, there really isn’t much else to catch the attention of the reader as the story moves forward. It feels like all build up and no pay off.

Patrick Gleason and Emanuela Lupacchino do amazing work with the art in this issue. Visually, everything looks amazing in both style and details. Unfortunately, the pace of the story drags down the quality of the art.
