The Kree Accusers have been building a weapon in the King Egg to control the Brood and the latest accuser wants it. After capturing the Starjammers, the Accuser demands the egg be returned, but he will soon discover that he should be careful what he wishes for. With Gladiator and his team on the attack, the Accuser will discover that the egg is headed his way with the Brood in hot pursuit.

When the X-Men arrive with the egg, they are forced to make a crash landing on a nearby planet and fight alongside their allies to keep the Brood from taking the egg back to their queen. As the battle rages, one of the team will take a drastic step to end the attack. A step that will have unexpected consequences for everyone involved.

The Story: Jonathan Hickman pens a story steeped in adventure with a lot of action and humor mixed in. The seriousness of the Brood threat is present in every panel, but the story never loses focus on the characters. There is an energy in this story and it permeates throughout the plot and its characters. It is an enjoyable thrill ride that culminates in a moment that is surprising and intriguing in its implications for the X-Men and their conflict with the Brood.

The Art: Leinil Francis Yu delivers some beautiful art throughout this issue and every panel is filled with gorgeous details. The action is fantastic and rises in intensity with each page.
