The Rundown: The mutants face a new threat close to their new territory and a new hero takes to the skies.
A new hero has taken to the skies of New York City. A hero who is winning the hearts and minds of the citizens, but no one seems to know this mystery man’s name. On Krakoa, Cyclops and the others debate the inclusion of a hero named Captain Krakoa onto the X-Men roster. A decision Scott is against, but is out voted on. At the same time, Sunfire prepares to greet a human billionaire on Arraki and send him back to Earth.
Unfortunately, the man has plans to stay and his presence gets the attention of the mutant warriors on Mars. When one of the warriors appears and decides to fight both Sunfire and Feilong, Sunfire will discover quickly that the billionaire with a foothold on mutant territory is more formidable than they imagined. Back on Earth, Scott has to deal with a huge change to his circumstances and discovers something strange about the story that was set to come out about him.
The Story: Duggan delivers an interesting story in this issue. It does have some thematic issues that I found hard to connect with. The A plot with Cyclops was not particularly compelling and was overshadowed by the drama of the B plot. The B plot with Sunfire also had some issues for me because it seems to show that this island filled with psychics, telepaths and powerful beings always seem to be one step behind Orchis and other human organizations. The story was good, but felt uneven.
The Art: Larraz delivers some great art in the issue. The action is always beautifully done and the characters look fantastic.
