The Rundown: A new threat heads to Earth and the X-Men head to the heartland.

After failing at their first attempt to destroy life on Earth, the gamblers orbiting a black hole decide that the next roll will be the one. Their bet will consist of the Annihilation Wave being sent to Earth, but they weren’t counting on the X-Men.

As the team settles into their new headquarters in Manhattan, Synch gets some lessons in telepathy from Jean while Rogue deals with a situation with Remy. When the wave hits the planet, the X-Men spring into action and head out to stop it. With the fate of the entire planet on the line, the team will come together as Jean and Polaris learn more about the bigger threat they face.

The Story: Gerry Duggan is bringing back classic X-Men action and adventure. Something I am thoroughly enjoying. I like the humor and dialogue in this issue a lot and it does a great job of showing how this team works with each other. The big villains have yet to make much of an impression on me, but their overall plans seem interesting and the story keeps me engaged enough to want to see where things go next for these characters.

The Art: Pepe Larraz delivers some dazzling visuals throughout this issue. There is a wonderfully detailed command of these characters and action on each page.
