The Rundown: Doug Ramsey finds himself contemplating his future as the heir of Apocalypse.

Doug continues to have nightmares about not only how he was brought back by Apocalypse, but also how his resurrection relates to the mutant’s mission of survival of the fittest. After waking from a nightmare, he is confronted by his wife Bei about their mission. As they discuss their next steps over breakfast with Warlock, they are unaware of the black ops team converging on their location.
When the team breaches the perimeter, Bei the Blood Moon goes into action to bring down the team one by one. Unfortunately, one of them breaches the house and confronts Doug. A confrontation that will reveal Doug’s power and strengthen his resolve as he goes looking for friends.
The Story: MacKay crafts a story with a darker, more thrilling tone in this issue. I love seeing the return of Doug and the relationship between him and Bei is always fun to see considering how different they are in personality and temperament. The story has a great buildup of tension and that tension boils over in moments of great action, thrilling combat and a darkly comedic finale that teases that Doug’s mission could be interesting to explore.
The Art: Diaz brings amazing art to the issue. I love the visual style of the series and this issue has a wonderful mixture of visually thrilling action and humor.
