The Rundown: When Diana goes off to help people in need, she returns to discover that the man she loves is lost.

Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor enjoy time together before the demands of their worlds catch up to them. For Steve, it’s testing a new jet with an experimental engine. When he sets off for his mission, Diana is worried but there are other concerns that will draw her attention. Concerns that only Wonder Woman can handle.

A group of firefighters and animals are trapped on a mountain with no means of escape. Diana goes to rescue the group and finds a unique way to rescue the injured. When she returns, Etta tells her that Steve’s plane and his escorts disappeared. Taking to her invisible jet, Diana and Etta go hunting for the missing Steve only to find themselves trapped on an unknown island where they discover a creature more dangerous than they could imagine.

The Story: This is a smaller, more intimate story for Diana and that’s reflected in the stakes. Making it personal gives the reader a more engaging story. Palmiotti and Conner deliver a great first issue that reinforces everything that readers love about Wonder Woman and her relationship with Steve. It also opens up some interesting plot elements that I am interested in seeing explored. Both parts of the story work well together and they make me want to read more.

The Art: Chad Hardin does some brilliant art in this issue. The characters look amazing. Hardin is able to capture the beauty and power of Diana, especially in the fire rescue sequence. Great looking issue.
