The Rundown: Logan’s first mission with a freed mind will bring him face to face with a new experiment.

Newly freed from the Winter Soldier program, Logan is questioning his place with the Opposition. He continues to want to help free mutants from the repressive regime, but he is also consumed with revenge against everyone who made him into a killer. Issues he will have to deal with alone as he prepares for a mission into enemy territory.

Led by Abigail Brand, Logan and a small team including Gambit, Black Widow, Sprite and Beast make their way to a high security facility to free the mutants being held inside. Unfortunately, they find that all the guards are dead and that the facility only has one prisoner. A dangerous one whose mind has been corrupted and whose thirst for violence could rival Logan’s.

The Story: Condon creates a dark, thrilling and compelling story in this issue. Giving Logan back his agency makes for some great drama and complexity in the storytelling that I am enjoying. I love the dark tone of this series and this issue has some truly dark and unexpected moments that got my attention as a reader. I am invested in seeing where this story goes next.

The Art: Cappuccio delivers stunning, complex and beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. From the action to the characters, everything is visually gorgeous.
