Hardy was nominated for an Academy Award last year for The Revenant and has received critical acclaim from moviegoers and genre fans for his turn in Mad Max: Fury Road. While plot details have not been released, it is confirmed that Tom Hardy will be playing Eddie Brock in the film. Sony is in final negotiations with Ruben Fleischer to direct the film based on the script from Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. Fleishcer’s biggest hit to date was the 2009 film Zombieland.

Venom is scheduled for release October 5, 2018.
