The Rundown: Lion-O escapes and finds himself in an unknown area of Third Earth.

Lion-O escapes from Mumm-Ra’s pyramid and finds himself in a frozen wasteland with no idea where on Third Earth he is. As he finds himself encountering new and unique threats, he remembers the training of the other Thundercats and uses that training to keep himself alive as he wanders the land looking for his home.
As he spends weeks traveling, he is attacked by rock creatures and gargoyles before facing off against a mysterious foe who wears the symbol of the Thundercats. A foe who is revealed to be familiar to the lord of the Thundercats and comes with an ominous warning about an impending war.
The Story: Shalvey crafts an intense, compelling and entertaining story in this issue. It is filled with great action and thrills and I love that Lion-O is the focus. It’s a great way to show the character maturing as he faces adversity alone and I loved the lines about feeling free as he deals with and overcomes the dangers he finds himself in. I love the introduction of the new character as well and his reveal hints at something interesting coming from this series.
The Art: Mulvey creates some wonderful atmosphere with the art in this issue. I love the creature designs and how the imagery elevates the intensity and tone of the story.
