The Rundown: Thor uses his new power to take down Mjolnir and forge a new era as king.

Years ago, Thor finds himself training with his father on how to use Mjolnir and Odin leaves his son with words that will come back to haunt them both. Words that will bring Thor back to the present as he finds himself facing off against his greatest weapon in the wake of a personal tragedy. After losing one weapon in the battle, Thor calls for another, but is warned that the forces he is using could speed up something he didn’t consider.

After capturing the raging storm that has become Mjolnir, Thor reveals that he knows the creature is afraid and decides to show it real fear by taking it somewhere it doesn’t expect. Somewhere it fears more than anywhere. A place where Thor does what must be done to end the threat and in the aftermath discover something unexpected.

The Story: Cates delivers some fantastic action, thrills and emotions in this issue. The flashback moment was great and does a wonderful job of bringing together all of the themes of the arc. The final confrontation with Mjolnir brilliantly shows how Thor has grown and evolved as a character and hero. The story has wonderful tension throughout and comes to a glorious conclusion that makes me excited for what is to come for the characters.

The Art: Klein delivers some awesome visuals on every page. There is great action, intense character designs and awesome visual thrills.
