Marvel Comics

Written by Gail Simone

Art by David Marquez

Letters by Clayton Cowles

The Rundown: The Outsiders take on Deadpool and Outlaw while Jubilee confronts a ghost from her recent past.

Rogue and her team are called in to see the mayor and when they arrive, they are shocked to see that there are plans to revitalize part of the city using the X-Men as a theme. At the same time, the young mutants are preparing breakfast when Waffles picks up a scent that will lead them to a confrontation with both Deadpool and Outlaw.

After the rest of the team arrives, Deadpool reveals that he was hired by someone with a vendetta against Jubilee and has kidnapped a young mutant woman and her mother to lure her into a trap. A trap Jubilee decides to confront on her own to send them a message about fighting back.

The Story: Simone creates a dynamic, fun, thrilling and engaging story in this issue. Not only are there great character moments with the young mutants as they grow and bond with each other, but the beginning moments of the story have some hopeful tones that, as a reader, made me as anxious as the characters. There is some great action throughout the issue and the focus on Jubilee and her journey was brilliantly done while leaving a great message for the reader.

The Art: Marquez delivers stunning art throughout the issue with some beautifully detailed pages and panels filled with great action, character designs and visual thrills.
