The Rundown: The X-Men battle a dangerous entity for the lives of their young charges.

As the X-Men find themselves beneath the earth in the presence of a dangerous entity and an army of the dead, the mayor decides to make an announcement to the press making the city a safe haven for mutants. Beneath the city, the mutants fight the dead and Deathdream decides to give in to the wishes of Shuvahrak and confronts the ghosts regarding their crimes against mutants.

After hearing their stories, Shuvahrak possesses Ransom and tells the mutants that she will take any of them if none of them volunteers. Rogue and the others decide to fight back and the X-Men discover a weakness that could exploit to find a way to escape.

The Story: Simone crafts a thrilling, engaging story in this issue. I continue to love the world building she is doing in this series and how she is expanding the lore of the mutants. Both the story from the past and the present action are compelling and I love seeing the interactions between Henrietta and Logan. There is fantastic action throughout the story and great suspense at it comes to a satisfying conclusion.

The Art: Marquez and Vecchio deliver beautifully detailed and visually exiting art throughout the issue. I love the imagery across the board and how emotional and evocative the art is.
