The Rundown: Ben’s investigation into a missing girl will paint a dangerous target on his back.

Ben Grimm and the rest of the Fantastic Four are fighting an alien monster in the Negative Zone and in the aftermath, Ben decides to head home and get some rest. Unfortunately, a knock on the door will upend his quiet evening when a bully from his past on Yancy Street asks for his help in finding his sister’s missing daughter.

Ben immediately gets involved and heads to a local bar for answers when he finds Gladiator drunk and raving about being experimented on. Experiments that greatly enhance his strength as he fights Ben. After ending the brawl and going out to get answers, Ben doesn’t realize that he now has a bounty on his head as the city’s deadliest assassins begin to target The Thing.

The Story: Fleecs crafts a fun, engaging story for Ben in this first issue. I’ve always loved the character of the Thing and this issue gives Ben some interesting depth as it explores his past. I like seeing Ben diving into a mystery with links to his own history and Fleecs teases some interesting emotional stakes for the character as well as intense action.

The Art: Mason delivers some beautiful looking art throughout the issue. I love the character designs a lot and how visually immersive the story is.
