Honor and her family are enjoying a night together in their quiet home in South Carolina when her husband asks her why they never get back to Gotham City anymore. This prompts Honor to remember the reason why she won’t go back. She remembers being sent to Gotham on a mission for Talia. One that has something to do with her father trying to kill everyone close to the Leviathan leader. She makes her way to the city, finds herself a place and follow Talia’s instructions without question.

When she hears the screams of a family about to be killed, she ignores her mission and goes to help. Unfortunately for her, someone else heard that scream and is descending on the scene as well; Batman. After the two of them fight, Silencer tries to escape. When she’s tracked down and confronted by the Dark Knight Detective, a new player enters the fight. Someone that has been sent to remove them both from the game.

Abnett does a great job of weaving Silencer into the world of Batman with their mutual link to Talia. The story is done really well and keeps the tone of the series as Honor finds herself questioning her role as an assassin and what it might be like to have a life and family of her own. We get the seeds of her quest for normalcy in this issue as well as her first meeting with Blake. It adds some fun back story to the series and some well-done character development for Honor.

Jack Herbert’s art is really good. I especially enjoyed the use of shadow in his backgrounds and there are some really great action shots in the fight between Batman, Silencer and Reaper. The art does a great job of conveying the emotion of the story and complements it really well. This was a really good background story for Honor and her relationship with Talia.
