The Rundown: Cliff competes in a dangerous race whose competitors could be more deadly than anything he’s faced in the rocket.

The day of the Great Race is here and Cliff is having a little trouble with just how powerful Nkosi’s engine really is. After managing to fly the thing and come back alive, he decides to go see Betty and Peevy only to run into a female competitor that turns both their heads. At the same time, Betty becomes enamored with a German flying ace who Cliff might have run into before as the Rocketeer.

After some final preparations and childish shenanigans, Cliff promises to meet Betty is Paris as the racers take to the skies. What none of them realize is just how ruthless the German ace can be to his fellow competitors and Cliff’s desire to beat him might put his plane and his life in jeopardy.

The Story: Mooney brings style, thrills and humor into this story with great dialogue and adventure. The characters and tone are lively, fun and engaging with a classic comic banter that is fun to dive into. I’m a huge fan of the world of the Rocketeer and this story brilliantly captures the time, attitude and tone of those great stories while taking Cliff and company on an adventure that I am excited to read.

The Art: Mooney delivers some great art in the issue with awesome character designs and a bright, thrilling look to the action.
