The Rundown: The angel seeks help from one who has seen the depths of hell.

In the mid 70’s Eliza is a true believer in God despite the powers she and her husband have manifested. As she recounts her sins to Valentina, Eliza thinks back on her time with other members of the elite and how her beliefs shaped her actions and how those same beliefs cost her the man that she loved.
As the story continues to ripple through time, Etienne and the others discuss what happened to Eliza and what her newfound power means to their world. A power that she continues to use in service of God. Unfortunately, she is unaware that her connection to the divine has a darker secret behind it.
The Story: Gillen consistently crafts a thrilling, interesting and compelling story in this issue. This series is beautifully deep and philosophically engaging. I continue to enjoy the non-linear elements of the story as they add new and intriguing elements to the characters. Gillen is ramping up to something great in their interpersonal conflicts and I cannot wait to see how these events play out.
The Art: Wijngaard delivers beautifully detailed and luscious art throughout the issue. The character designs and visual style bring me back to this series issue after issue.
