The Rundown: Sir Hugh attempts to return to his home after refusing his deal with death.

Hugh is attempting to travel back home after refusing to kill Gilbert the Pure and knowing that his refusal means certain death for his son. As he and his squire make their journey back, Hugh begins to have strange visions that almost incapacitate him on the road. At the same time, Sir Maurice’s daughter runs to the man she loves with a desperate plan to stop her father from making her marry someone else.
Hugh wakes up in the middle of the night and traverses into the woods to find a nightmarish vision of his wife and son among others in the dance of death. At Maurice’s estate, Aaron attempts to collect something from the grounds and is greeted with a dark and macabre message from a rotting corpse with a warning for the man regarding the woman he loves.
The Story: Milligan creates an entertaining, engaging story in this issue. It continues to be beautifully dark and interesting as we see Hugh deal with the consequences of his choices and what that means for his family. I love the dark, deliberate tone of the story and how each part of the story creates intriguing connections to the other. I look forward to seeing what happens next.
The Art: Rodrigues delivers beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. I love the visual style of the series and how the imagery matches the tone and mood of the story.
