The second season of the hit sci-fi series The Orville premieres this month on Fox and there is already news that could help usher in a third season.

According to a report in Deadline, the latest round of California TV Tax Credits approved the Seth MacFarlane series to receive $15.8 million dollars for the third season of the series that follows the intergalactic adventures of the crew of the starship Orville. The credit is an increase over last year’s $14.5 million dollar incentive.

While a tax incentive doesn’t guarantee a show will receive an additional season, it does make a series more profitable and thus, more likely to be renewed.

The second season of The Orville premieres Sunday December 30th on Fox.
