The Rundown: Hulk and Betty come to an understanding. McGee is freaked out by the freak show. Bruce discovers that there is more to Gamma than he realized and General Fortean makes a discovery.

After his latest death, Bruce finds himself back in the hellscape he recently escaped from confronted by his father again. This time, the man wants his son to learn a new lesson about gamma and the fact that he isn’t the only one who has visited that place. It’s a lesson Bruce has to learn fast as Betty’s new form has rebooted Hulk in the real world and the green Goliath is not happy.

Fortean targets Hulk, Betty and McGee for death as his War Wagons move in for the kill. An epic battle consumes the area as Banner tries to tear his old friend from the body of his old foe. Betty unleashes the beast on the men attacking them and Fortean discovers someone else has returned in the aftermath of the battle.

The Story: Al Ewing deftly blends horror, psychological thriller, monster movie action and dark humor into this issue. The moments between Hulk and Betty are tense and interesting and Hulk’s connection to and protection of Banner continues to be a great plot thread to explore. The dialogue and the action are fantastic and Ewing impresses with a story that continues to evolve and take new directions with each arc. The final moments of this issue are incredibly intriguing and I can’t wait to see where the story goes next.

The Art: Joe Bennett masterfully brings Ewing’s story to life with beautiful art. Every page looks great and all of the action is fantastic.
