All of the forces hunting the Immortal Hulk are about to unleash a new horror on the world.

Walter Langkowski has tracked Hulk’s gamma signature to New Mexico, specifically the abandoned base where Bruce first became the Hulk. His readings not only find Bruce, but another signature as well. A signature that prompts him and the Gamma Flight companions to take a ship to the surface to check it out.

On the ground, Creel’s mind is in a different place while his mutilated body continues to fight a weakened and emaciated Hulk. An agent of Shadow Base is watching the fight and preparing to take a shot at Hulk when given the word and when Walter arrives, the agent makes his move. A move that is going to have unexpected consequences.

The bullet Hulk takes to the brain gives him the clarity he needs to finally discover exactly what the force behind the Green Door wants. He races to stop Creel from reaching the detonation point of Banner’s first bomb, but it might be too late for Hulk and everyone at the explosion site when the Green Door takes them to Hulk’s greatest fear.

This is a brutal and beautiful issue that delivers on many of the plot elements and story details that have been building since the beginning of this series. Al Ewing has crafted a dense and personal nightmare for Hulk and it is going to be interesting to see how Hulk navigates this new landscape and what he will do to both survive and escape from it. Great, tense writing in this issue that continued to build to a really dramatic and well done ending.

Joe Bennett’s art is fantastic. It’s a great complement to the story with panels that build on the increased pace and speed of the plot.
