The Rundown: As the investigation into actual truth continues, Oswald meets a new member of his team.

The basement of the Department of Truth gets a new face with the arrival of Doc Hynes, an unusual young man in a tin foil hat. As he greets Oswald, the two discuss the strange young man and he tells his future boss how he became a member of the department.

It’s a story steeped in the UFO craze after World War II. As he discusses with an FBI agent the evidence he has gathered about the mysterious men in black, he recounts the testimony of others who have experiences similar phenomenon. After returning to his home, Hynes will experience something that will change his world forever and it has a direct connection to the mystery woman at the heart of the department’s mission.

The Story: Tynion takes the story in a new and interesting direction as he takes the reader back to the early days of the department. The story is great and the characters are instantly engaging. I really enjoyed the pacing of the story as well as the tone.

The Art: Boss has an interesting art style and the minimalism of it works for this story and its themes. It does a great job of making the characters the focus and playing into the tone of the story.
