The Rundown: Gordon and Batman’s trip to Arkham will uncover a larger conspiracy.

Gordon receives a rare clue before Batman and has the Dark Knight meet him at Arkham Asylum to continue their investigation.

Batman arrives at the facility and notices things are decidedly strange inside. When he and Gordon meet up with Flamingo, Batman relays the information they have regarding Scorn. When the witness is murdered by a Scorn member dressed as a guard, both Batman and Gordon realize that Arkham has been compromised and they need to escape.

The Story: Ellis tackles this story straight on and that is what I appreciate the most about it. There’s no unnecessary moments of exposition and narration. Everything happens with immediacy and tension and the plot unfolds in front of the reader perfectly. Some of the great moments in the plot involve Jeremiah Arkham and his relationship with Batman. Those were some great pages and the dialogue was fantastic.

The Art: Bryan Hitch delivers some great art in this issue and the beautiful visuals feature a sense of movement throughout. A great looking issue.
