The Rundown: Spider-Man makes the decision to protect Norman Osborn from Sin Eater while his allies gather to make a decision of their own.

Spider-Man has infiltrated Ravencroft after making the decision to rescue Norman Osborn from the Sin Eater. Surrounded by prisoners and the Sin Eater’s forces, Spidey manages to find Osborn, but the villain has his own plans. Plans that include releasing an inmate that could turn the tide of the battle in his favor.

At the same time, Peter’s allies have gathered to go over some disturbing visions they have been having that all end with Peter dying at the hands of his greatest enemy. Resolved in their decision to stop Peter from helping Norman, they spring into action, but Madame Web is hiding something even darker and it has everything to do with Kindred.

The Story: Nick Spencer really delivers with this issue. The story is tight and filled with tension throughout. I enjoyed the surprises and reveals immensely and was impressed with the dynamic between Peter and Norman. Even their dialogue is tense and Spencer taps into the emotions Peter is feeling as he resolves himself to doing the right thing for the absolute wrong person. I can’t wait to see where this story goes next and its evolution looks to be something explosive.

The Art: Federico Vicentini has some awesome, action-packed art that reflects the tension and tone of the story. There is an emotional element to the art that Vicentini is able to bring out through the panels especially in the moments between Norman and Peter. The reveal of the prisoner being kept at the bottom of the institute is handled brilliantly as well.
