J Jonah Jameson has a new podcast and his first guest is Spider-Man. After the two clashed over Jameson’s last attempt to “help” the wall crawler, Peter agreed to be on the first episode as a means of trying to bury the hatchet and start fresh with Jonah. What starts as a friendly back and forth about Jonah trying to prove to people that Peter is a hero quickly turns into a screaming match with the two verbally jabbing each other and airing out years of grievances.

At the same time, the Foreigner challenges Chance with a wager guaranteed to up the stakes for the villain in front of his casino full of guests; steal one of Spider-Man’s webshooters.

The Story: Nick Spencer continues to keep things light with this issue and it is a fun story that finally cuts through some of the tension this new Spidey/Jameson dynamic has been glossing over. I love the fact that Spencer is having these two characters use the medium of a podcast to deal with their personal issues and seeing Jameson read podcast ads is hilarious. The dialogue is fantastic and I love the tone of this story. There are some darker stories brewing in the background for Spider-Man, but I love that this story takes a break from it to deal with something interesting.

The Art: Iban Coello offers some beautiful and detailed visuals throughout this issue and there some great shots that catch the eye. Some of my favorite visual moments are the ones in the podcast booth with Spidey and Jonah sitting opposite each other and how the angles of the panels change and evolve as their conflict does the same.
