The Rundown: Superman is called away from Metropolis to help Batman with a case. It’s a case involving the murder of a couple and two of their four children. Superman goes to the hospital to talk to the surviving daughter who tells him that he was always her sister’s favorite and that the men who took her were wearing space suits.

Determined to get answers, Superman finds himself trapped in the limitations of his own mission. No one really wants to take the case of a missing girl seriously when Superman is needed to stop global threats and super villains, but there is something about this case that will draw him into an intergalactic mystery that only the man of steel can solve.

The Story: This is an interesting and different style of story for Superman and Tom King does an excellent job of showcasing the impediments Clark experiences when trying to help find the little girl. The concept of Superman taking on a singular mission in contrast to the global threats he’s expected to solve is great and there are some equally great moments shown in this issue. The meeting between Clark, Lois and Perry where he tries to convince him that the girl’s story is worth pursuing shows the audience everything they need to know about what is expected from the man of steel in the world he protects.

The Art: Andy Kubert delivers some detailed and beautiful art throughout the issue. He brilliantly details the power of Superman and the threats he faces as he laments whether or not he can take the time to help find one little girl in the vast universe.
