The Rundown: With Superman fighting to save the fledgling United Planets initiative, the fallout from his truth will begin the inevitable backlash.

With the leaders of the United Planets under attack from Mongul, Superman swoops in to defend them. Unfortunately, the world conqueror has decided that murdering the delegates is more important than his fight and Superman finds himself in a pitched battle with the despot.

At the same time, a group of reporters debating the new dynamic of knowing the secret identity of Superman and how he operated as Clark Kent, will be sent a video feed that shows Superman representing Earth at the United Planets and that will set off a firestorm in the newsroom being led by an old friend.

The Story: I have really mixed feelings about this issue. There are some great moments, especially the newsroom moments. Using that time to dissect the ramifications of Clark reporting on himself is something worth exploring and the revelation of what he did at the United Planets is worthy of its own issue as well. Unfortunately, the Mongul storyline is weak and not particularly interesting. I couldn’t wait to get past those scenes and back to the smaller story.

The Art: The art looks fantastic and even though the action story is not as compelling as the rest of the issue, the artists do a great job of making those scenes look great.
