The Rundown: Daniel is finding out quickly that escape from Stillwater is next to impossible as there are eyes everywhere.

Daniel is determined to get out of Stillwater, but every attempt he’s made has ended with him getting a bullet in the back and dragged back into the town. With his chances growing slimmer, he decides that it’s time he got some answers and who better to get them from than the town doctor. After speaking with the doctor and finding out about how the miracle of the town extends beyond its people, Daniel is invited to a party.

Knowing that the people still view him suspiciously, Daniel decides to go to the party and learn more about them. As he continues to watch, view and learn, the eyes of the sheriff and her deputies are always on him and they waiting for him to mess things up. With determination to learn what he can before making his escape, he goes to see the person responsible for getting him in this mess.

The Story: Chip Zdarsky starts to get into the bigger questions of the story in this issue and those questions begin to make Daniel a more interesting character. The plot is both thoughtful and engaging as the reader becomes enmeshed in the plot of the character and curious about the world of the story. I like the fact that the story expands beyond the people and deepens the mystery. It will be interesting to see where the story goes next.

The Art: Ramon Perez delivers some great imagery throughout the issue. The sequence in the beginning of the issue with Daniel attempting to escape is brilliantly laid out. The rest of the issue has a great contrast that showcases the beauty and serenity of the surroundings while reminding the reader of the threat of the leaving.
