The Rundown: Daniel and Tanya realize that the new leadership might be more dangerous than the last.

Daniel is getting better at his weapons training a year after new leadership takes over the town of Stillwater, but there is still darkness beneath the surface of the idyllic setting. Even though he has gotten word about his mother out in the world, he is still unable to speak to her directly. There are other changes in the town as well. Changes that could bring unwanted attention. Galen gets a call from the sheriff and decides to meet with him somewhere out of sight. After a verbal dust up about someone getting suspicious, Daniel and Tanya both realize that things can’t keep going on like this for much longer.

When Ted decides to move against one of the new people in the town, Tanya tries to stop him but ends up getting shot instead. When she revives, she calls Daniel to try to stop what’s happening, but it’s too late. As the pair try to find out what they can do next, they get a signal from someone they didn’t expect. Someone who is on the way back to Stillwater on a mission.

The Story: Zdarsky does a great job of bringing tension and drama to the events of the story. The intrigue continues to be interesting and the character struggles continue to be engaging. There are a lot of dark undertones to this issue and the tension throughout is both palpable and exciting. There is an intensity to the characters and I cannot wait to see what they are presented with next.

The Art: Ramon K Perez delivers some impressive art throughout the issue. The emphasis on the characters is crucial and the art gives them great emotional moments.
