The remaining rebel cruisers are at the mercy of the Empire with General Dodonna’s ship being the only one to have escaped. With Vader getting ready to strike his final blow to the crippled ships, all hope seems lost. Dodonna and his ship decide on a bold plan to attack the Executor as a means of distracting the ship long enough for evacuation ships and fighters to get the information to the remaining ships that will get their systems working.

With the Rebel plan underway, Han Solo takes Luke’s X-Wing to escort the evacuation ships and take out any Tie Fighters in the area. The gamble is successful and the Rebel ships begin to escape, but Han and his fighter are in trouble and Dodonna’s ship is heavily damaged.

Gillen continues to build tension in this story and there are some great moments both during the story and at the end. I don’t want to spoil those moments, so I will encourage you to read it yourself. I continue to fall in love with the pacing of these issues. There’s such an attention to the look and feel of a Star Wars film in how the story progresses that one can imagine these events happening on the screen.

Salvador Larroca’s art is amazing. I loved every panel in this book. Everything was rendered in a way that made the characters and action work hand in hand with the tone of the story. There were no wasted moments in the art and everything worked seamlessly. There was a cinematic quality to the look of this issue and that comes through in many of the character and dialogue heavy moments. This issue was really fun to read and makes me curious what will happen next.
