The Rundown: The rebels turn to an old droid to find a new way to communicate with their fleet.

After the daring theft of a linguistics droid, the rebels work to bring it online in order to use a dead language to communicate and rally the rest of the fleet. The droid is less than cooperative and it will take Lobot to find a way to communicate with it and Lando to make it a deal that will get Leia what she needs. With a new communication means in hand and coordinates for the remaining rebels to rally, Leia sends her Starlight squadron on a mission to find the missing ships.

Unfortunately, the squadron arrives at one of the rebel’s rendezvous points only to find the fleet destroyed and a series of imperial probe droids left in its place to attack the ships. With limited options and the importance of protecting the new rebel code looming, the pilots will have to make drastic decision. One that might protect the rebellion, but leave them lost with the Empire on their tails.

The Story: Soule has a unique talent for not only tapping into the nostalgic aspects of the bigger Star Wars universe and its characters, but also to give these stories a unique voice that makes them more interesting and engaging to the reader. This issue is no exception. Not only do we get more info about the relationship between Lando and Lobot, but there are hints at bigger stories that are familiar to the reader, especially the presence of Jabba the Hutt. A great story on its own filled with great action and tension. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

The Art: Bazaldua delivers some beautiful imagery in this issue. Not only is there great drama and style to the characters, but the action is well done also.
