Garak and Dr. Bashir decide to have lunch at a local restaurant on the promenade. When an explosion rocks the eatery, the two barely escape. Unfortunately, there are several casualities and Sisko wants answers. Odo begins his investigations, but with the Dominion War raging, the list of suspects continues to get longer.

One suspect’s name keeps being thrown around, but Odo is reluctant to go down that investigative road even in the face of two angry Naussicans who have lost people in the explosion. When Chief O’Brien presents the Constable with a new piece of evidence, Odo has no choice but to bring in a familiar face to answer some uncomfortable questions.

The Story: Once again the Tipton’s bring the tone, tenor and music of the Star Trek universe to life in this issue. The pacing is fantastic and the entire read felt like being immersed in an episode of the series with the characters dialogue matching those of their live action counterparts. Odo’s grunts and sarcastic tone are perfectly captured and the mystery itself is engaging. I’m interested in seeing where this story goes next and what twists await.

The Art: Greg Scott strikes the perfect tone with the art in this issue. The story has all the feel of a film noir mystery and Scott’s use of shadows and composition fit perfectly into the tone of the series.
