The Rundown: Erica loses everything in her life and finds a new one in the form of the Order.

Erica was not always a monster hunter, but her first foray into it happened at an early age and a member of the Order took notice. So impressed with Erica’s handling of the monster that murdered her friend and parents, the woman takes young Erica with her after offering the young girl the option to fight monsters. An option she agrees to before leaving her old life behind.

Still haunted by the events that took her family from her, Erica finds herself in a new world. A world with rules and a heirarchy that she will have to learn to navigate quickly if she’s going to survive. She begins to get the lay of the land as well as meet the people who will shape her future before she finds herself going to meet the head of the Order himself.

The Story: After the events of the last arc, this one takes a step back to dive into the characters. There is a compelling narrative being spun in this issue and I was engaged by both the characters and what is to come for Erica. I enjoyed seeing her process her new circumstances as she also tries to come to terms with the events that led her to the Order in the first place. There is a fun and interesting dynamic between the characters and I cannot wait to see how those elements are developed.

The Art: Dell’edera produces some beautiful imagery throughout the issue. Even though the story is short on action, it delivers great atmosphere and emotion through its art.
