The Rundown: Spider-Man faces more of his foes as Kindred gives them his own style of motivation.

Things are going from bad to worse for Spider-Man as he finally finds a way to get outside only to find another group of villains waiting to ambush him. Every fight seems to bring him to another supervillain team set on killing him. A last minute save gets him out of harm’s way, but drops him from the frying pan into the fire.

As the villains fight among themselves and remember the circumstances that brought them together, Kindred gathers them all to give them their mission. He also explains to them what they are fighting for and it is a lot more personal than killing Spider-Man.

The Story: Spencer and Brisson do a great job of keeping the momentum and action of the story going in this second issue. Having Spider-Man take on a army of his foes is a huge feat and this story manages to do it in a way where the spectacle doesn’t overshadow the story. There are some moments that felt like Peter was just along for the ride but the story is engaging in its cuts between the present fight and the circumstances that brought all these villains into it. To make things even more interesting, the writers do a great job of showing the motivation behind the attack and why these villains are fighting so hard to kill Spider-Man.

The Art: All of the artists do a great job of connecting all the parts of this story visually and keeping the energy high as the story moves from one extreme to another.
